Two Lafayette police officers who shot a man that allegedly pointed a gun at them acted within policy, a police review board said.

Lafayette police involved shooting that we've been following here on news 18.

A review board says two lpd officers acted within policy when they shot a man last week.

News 18's marlee thomas is live at the lafayette police department.

She joins us now to tell us why the review board has put them back on patrol, marlee?

Trevor, officers khoury elias and israel salazar are back on the streets.

That's because they followed departmental training standards during the shooting.

This alstems from a domestic distrubance from a week ago today.

As we previously reported, elias and salazar were looking for trevor bowie.

He is accused of stealing a gun from his girlfriends house in the 800 block of north 7th street.

When they found him, bowie ran away.

Police say bowie pointed a gun at them and elias and salazar fired.

At the time, he was in critical condition.

He has since been released and is now in the tippecanoe county jail.

Lpd has finished their investigation.

Now the case is turned over to the tippecanoe county prosecuter.

Police say no further facts or camera footage will be released.
