Essential businesses should be open.

And pot shops ar* considered essential under the stay at home order.

Action news now reporter, karen alvarez stopped by a local pot shop to see how business is going.

She joins us live in redding.

Leave it to nature---manager laurie stickney tells me in the past couple of weeks their sales have spiked.

Stickney tells me she belives people could be stocking up because they're stressed or anxious.

She says before the pandemic they were logging close to 60 sales transactions a day.

Now - that number has almost*triple*.

We have increased quite a bit, quite a bit.

But everything has been going well about the fact that they're keeping their masks and wear gloves, they're being safe.

But yes it has gone up quite a bit.

In their case--- they're seeing more people buying edibles compared to other pot products.

Stickney says the number of walk- ins is down---but they've seen a lot more first- time clients.

And more people are using the drive-thru instead.

Stickney tells me while the demand is high---they've managed to keep up with supply.

Reporting in redding, karen alvarez, action news now, coverage you can count on.

' leave it to nature' also stepped up its cleaning procedures--- cleaning 3 times a day and installed sneeze guards at their check-out counters.
