State allows ballot drop boxes at local election offices during pandemic

The Georgia Election Board is giving counties the option of establishing absentee ballot drop boxes for the June primary election.

The drop boxes allow voters to turn in their ballots and still follow c-d-c guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Election officials have sent absentee ballot request forms to nearly 7 million registered voters, and they are still encouraging people to vote by mail if possible.

They say drop boxes could be a way for voters to return their ballots in person without needing a stamp.

In houston county, the board of elections already has drop boxes.
