The abatements will keep Chosen Healthcare from moving patients out of its Washington facility into other communities.

The state.

"chosen health care" announced this past weekend that it would turn it's washington, indiana nursing facility into a covid-19 hospital.

This would involve moving residents to buildings out of the small community.

The move caught many in the community...including it's leaders off guard.

"i was totally shocked.

We had no idea" now a move by the county health office looks to have addressed the issue.

News 10 bureau chief gary brian has been following this story and has the latest.

Pk} gar} "today two abatements were passed by the daviess county health officer to address the situation at washington nursing center.

For the moment those abatements seem to have stopped residents from being removed from the center."

Chosen healthcare announced they would convert their washington nursing facility into a covid-19 hospital this past weekend.

Residents living at the washington nursing center would be moved to other buildings within the company.

I spoke with washington mayor david rhoads today.

He says he was shocked when he found out satuday morning.

Since then he says he has been working with city and county leaders and legal advisors about the situation.

The answer came monday.

The daviess county health officer passed an abatement to put a stop to residents at the facility being moved.

A second abatement was passed monday afternoon to address language that allowed chosen healthcare to continue moving residents out.

"it's not right to displace our residents out of the facility and bringing in patients from other places that are sick with this virus.

And putting our community in danger."
