Local school systems must complete 20 more days of remote learning until the end of the school year.

But first..... breaking news in the state of indiana.

Indiana governor eric holcomb announced hoosier school buildings will remain closed for the remainder of the school year.

He made the announcement a few hours ago during a press conference.

Holcomb signed an executive order that requires all k through 12 schools to provide remote learning.

Under the new requirements schools will have to complete 160 instructional days.

There's also another option.

If a school completes 20 days and falls short of the required 160 instructional days, the indiana department of education can waive the difference.

The vigo county school corporation has responded to the governor's announcement.

Corporation officials say they are prepared to start remote learning.

This will begin on monday, tuesday and wednesday of next week.

The corporation says it will release a remote learning plan for the rest of the year in a few days.

According to officials...teachers should be contacting students on or before april 6th.
