Olmsted County Sheriff's Office on enforcing Stay at Home order

The Sheriff's Office advises you to not call 911 for information about the order or updates on COVID-19.

New on daybreak minnesota is on it's third day of the "stay at home" order to prevent the spread of covidá19... urging you to stay inside unless you (need to get food, gas or get medical help.

But what if you're caught driving for no reason?

Kimt news 3's madelyne watkins joins us live to clarify that for us.

Good morning brooke and tyler.

That's right á you are allowed to leave your house during this order without thinking you'll get pulled over or in trouble.

That's of course if you're still following the rules.

Captain scott behrns tells me they're going to enforce the traffic laws as they are á law enforcement will not stop you just to find out where you're going.

Captain behrns says the use for 911 has not changed.

So do not call the number if you want answers on covidá19 or the stay at home order.

Captain behrns tells me he understands these are difficult and trying times for everyone, but we all just need to stick "stay with your family, talk to those people you need to talk to.

There are mental health resources available, you can find them on our website.

If you need to talk to somebody, make the phone call, do a video chat, talk to somebody and get some help to work through your anxiety."

If you do have any questions for the olmsted county sheriff's office, you can visit the county's website.
