Hair and nail salons are having to close because of Coronavirus.

How many will survive?

Business.

Rob brown/owner, town & country barber shop and salon: "i think there's no other way."

The chairs are empty.

The phones?

Silent -- as chattanooga mayor andy berke calls on all hair and nail salons to close their doors amid the covid-19 pandemic.

Rob brown is the owner of town and country barber shop and salon.

He had already decided to shut down monday.

Brown: "it was a really hard decision to make because we have employees that obviously depend on the income here, and we ourselves do also.

I decided just to ask god, and we woke up monday morning with clear vision that we could not keep our people safe, our employees safe, our sweet customers safe and open up."

Top of the line barber shop on mlk boulevard is staying open one more day before the order goes into effect.

However, the manager says he doesn't know how long he'll be able to last with no income.

Uncle q: "i mean, i guess you got to do what you got to do for the community, but people have to make money too.

Of course you got a nest egg that you put away for times like this, rainy days, but if it goes on too long, like i said, i'll just have to come in and work and cut, and wear my gloves and clean my hands and do what i can, but life doesn't stop."

Brown: "it's been very hard for my stylists.

But can i say that, yesterday while calling my clients to reschedule, our clients to reschedule, they were paying.

They were going ahead and paying for their hair cut, going ahead and paying for their service."

Tuesday afternoon, president donald trump said he wants businesses back open by easter.

Brown is hoping for even sooner.

Brown: "we live in a great community.

Our city is great.

People are doing this on their own.

And if we all do it, it actually will make a difference.

And we will be back before easter."
