Officials with Robins Air Force Base, Houston Healthcare, and The North Central Health District are working to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Our top story tonight at 6: the north central health district confirmed... its first case of covid-19... involves a resident in houston county.

And officials with robins air force base ... are working to take care of the community.

Houston healthcare confirmed that the infected person is a healthcare provider within the medical center.

The hospital states that the contact happened at one of houston healthcare's med-stop facilities.

Now, officials with the north central health district and robins air force base have continued to take action to inform residents.

Nat: in a press conference wednesday, robins air force base leaders said their main concerns at this time are to take care of the community on base.

Nat: according to a news release from the north central health district, the individual has travel history to an area of the united states where covid-19 has active community spread.

I spoke with public information officer, michael hokanson, on where the individual is now located, after testing positive.

Hokanson: at this time the person is not hospitalized there in self-isolation at home to prevent the further spread of the illness in the community.

Houston healthcare and the health district are working together to identify any contacts that may have been exposed while the person was infectious.

Our epidemiologists will be actually working with the individual to get a contact list established and she will be contacting those individuals that may be at risk of exposure, getting them information on quarantine and symptom monitoring so we can contain the spread, should there have been a risk of exposure.

Hokanson reminds the public that covid-19 is spread by an c1 3 b13 infected person's coughs and sneezes or close contact with an infected individual.

Effective immediately ... all houston healthcare med-stop facilities ... are closed for the day.
