2424.

Career, education, child rearing, managing a household and caring for older parents, a woman's work is never done.

A local company is hosting an international women's day event to help the ladies discover the best versions of themselves.

We're joined by tory, and melissa, manager of women's empowerment.

Ladies, thank you so much for being here.

Good to see you again.

It has been a while.

So what have you been up to.

>> a little of this, little of that.

And so i transitioned out of my role in housing in mount pleasant and working with rent full-time.

>> i want to introduce you to our audience, they have never seen you before, and you started an organization in october.

Tell us about the balancing effect.

>> it's my company that i officially launched in october of 2019, and it's purpose is to provide mindful products and services for women to help them become best verges of themself.

>> what was the inspiration for starting it.

>> i had a blog where i gave advice to post graduate women and 2 fizzled out and the only thing i cared about was mental health.

And so in thinkings about that and purposing it and growing it, i wanted to do something new.

I wanted to name it the balancing effect, but maim it more than a blog.

>> mental health is a very important component to a woman's well being in general.

But what were you finding your blog may have been lacking now that aurer you're incorporating other aspects?

>> i started the blog out of college, and i was trying to do a bunch of things at once, like trying to throw in fashion and travel in there and specifically mental health.

Because that's where my big passion is, because with these products, you can't just have words.

I wanted to produce things to help people in daily life.

>> i want to talk about things that you produced but melissa, tell us what you're doing full-time with the women's empowerment network.

>> so we work to empower women and girls and gendern expansive people.

And limit disparities.

So my goal is to bring ren's work down to the low country to make our work engaging for people, but my work is located in charleston here.

>> how much of a need is there for the lowry?

>> wren does a lot of tough o'stuff in bumbia at the statehouse, and it can be a barrier to women disradio forceately affected by what they can do with their bodies, for example, and my roll is to make sure that people can plug into the work and not necessarily have travel be a barrier.

>> and whether you say about their bodies, what particularly are you talking about?

>> well, there are things like, for instance, lactation support.

And that's a bill that we have championed in advance to make sure that people who are lactating have the space and the time to be able to take breaks to express their milk, and it's a very important thing for the health of a parent and a child.

And the other thing that we're talking about.

There's an attempt to ban abortion at six weeks, and at six weeks, people don't even know they're pregnant.

And that's an attempt to control what they can do with their bodies, and we want to make sure that people who are pregnant can be empowered and not disenfranchised.

>> with international women's day coming up, we're talking about women all over the globe experiencing what we do at home.

Talking about a fun event that's coming up and more about the balancing effect and the problems that you serve as well.

Back after this.

>> and we're back with tory, the founder of the balancing effect, and melissa, the manager of women's rights network, and we were talking about the bassing effect and some products that you were developing for the betterment of women around the world.

And tell us about the things that you have developed so far.

>> so i launched the product, along with the company in october.

And it's the true north planner, and it's met to instill more self love, and so you have an annual goal, and a habit tracker, so you can track your habits and behaviors, so you can see what might be working for you, and what's not working for you.

And every week has a weekly reset and a challenge every week.

Just to instill a little bit more self love into your week, and every weekends with a weekly reflects, so you can see what you might want to improve on for the future.

>> why is it important to put this on paper?

>> because if it's not in front of you, you're not going to do it.

And in this case, it's for the product.

Saturated, i would say, but i think this is an important product.

And i think it is truly beneficial.

>> a lot of women, for me personally, we talk about this earlier, i forget what my week was like.

I come in on saturday.

And everything in the week is a fog, and highs and lows thak you act a certain way, and you forget why, and then you repeat the same pattern when monday rolled around.

>> you think of it as your own personal book, and you can forget where you're at in your life.

And i do forget a lot of things that happen over the years, and it's all right there.

And you can see it.

>> we women are busy, it's a lot of fun, and can you tell us about the event coming up?

>> this saturday, at the heart cafe.

The silent auction, 20 local businesses, and we have unlimited food and drink from the park cafe.

A dj is going to be there, and we have a flower truck, and a tarot reader.

>> oh, i love tarot.

This is your old dance troop?

>> yes, i danced with jenny for years and years.

>> what kind of dance?

>> hiphop.

>> you are going to get up and dance?

>> i do like to dance a little bit of a probably l.

>> we'll have all of that information on the social media pages, and this is at the park cafe.

>> tickets are $70 so the sales end at noon, so unlimited food and drinks for a good cause, and how do people get more information about wren and how to get involved.

>> yes, we're working on 12 weeks paid leave for state employees, that's for newborns, and people looking to adopt or people in foster care, so we need people to call their jeffers and say they support the bill 997.

Wren.org.

Check out our events page to see what's coming up.

>> thank you so much, ladies, and appreciate all of that information.
