May defends 'frank advice' of resigning DC ambassador

The prime minister told Britain's parliament that she had spoken with Darroch on Wednesday (June 10) morning and told him that it was a "matter of deep regret" that he felt it necessary to resign.

She added that her cabinet "rightfully gave its full support" to the ambassador and that parliament should defend British values when under pressure, an apparent criticism of President Trump's handling of the incident.

Corbyn echoed her comments moments later.

On Tuesday (June 9) Trump said he would no longer work with Darroch, who had labeled the White House as "inept" and "insecure" in the leaks.
