Boris Johnson has criticised the "defeatism and negativity" of the government over Brexit.

The former foreign secretary said: "The reason I have set October 31st as a hard deadline and we have got to go for it is that we have had enough of defeatism and negativity from this Government".

The Conservative leadership candidate was speaking at a party hustings in Darlington on Friday morning.
