SHOWS: MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, UK (JUNE 18, 2019) (ICC - NO RESALES) 1.

SOUNDBITE (English) ENGLAND CAPTAIN EOIN MORGAN SAYING: "Never have I ever thought that I could play a knock like that.

I'm delighted that I have, I think that coming in at the time where it was a 50-50 shout whether myself or Jos (Buttler) went in probably helped that because after I'd faced a few balls I had no choice, I had to start taking risks because of him coming in next and then after I got dropped it was a matter of just keep going.

Yes, one of those days." MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, UK (JUNE 18, 2019) (ACTION IMAGES VIA REUTERS PICTURES - ACCESS ALL) (MUTE) 2.

STILL - MORGAN CELEBRATING HIS CENTURY MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, UK (JUNE 18, 2019) (ICC - NO RESALES) 3.

SOUNDBITE (English) ENGLAND CAPTAIN EOIN MORGAN, ASKED WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO BREAK THE SIX RECORD, SAYING: "It's weird, it's very strange, along with the inninigs it's something I never thought I'd do.

So it's a nice place to be.

I think I'm probably just becoming a target for guys in the changing room to take down.

The hundred I scored is considered a slow one in our changing room, guys talk about it all the time, so yes, tough school." STORY: Eoin Morgan rewrote the record books on Tuesday (June 18), scoring 17 sixes - the most in a one-day international innings - in a blistering century as England crushed Afghanistan by 150 runs in their World Cup match at Old Trafford.

Morgan smashed a career-best 148 -- with 118 coming from sixes and fours -- off 71 balls to power England to 397-6, their highest World Cup total.

Even the presence of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in the stands could not inspire Gulbadin Naib's men who managed 247-8 before succumbing to their fifth defeat in five matches.

Afghanistan had an opportunity to dismiss the England captain when he was on 28 but Dawlat dropped the catch.

Leg spinner Rashid Khan recorded the worst bowling figures in a World Cup match, conceding 110 runs in nine overs without taking a single wicket.

But Afghan captain Gulbadin Naib defended Rashid saying: "Today was not his day." The Afghans had pinned their hopes on Rashid, who tops the list of T20 bowlers and is ranked third in the ODI list, to contain England's formidable batting order.

Afghanistan stay rooted to the bottom of the points table, which England now head after their fourth victory.
