Former Officer Convicted of Misconduct in a Public Office

A former West Yorkshire Police officer has been convicted of misconduct in a public office after forming a sexual relationship with a female victim of crime.  

Wasim Bashir, aged 55, who was working as a detective constable in Bradford District at the point of his arrest, was found guilty today (Friday, 22 August) of one count of misconduct in a public office following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court.  He has been remanded in custody to be sentenced on 29 August.
