Russian president Vladimir Putin offers ‘direct talks’ with Ukraine on 15 May in Istanbul

The proposal for direct talks with Kyiv comes hours after Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and four European leaders, with the backing of US, demanded that Russia agree to an unconditional 30-day ceasefire starting on 12 May.
