It's called the Independence Day Throwback Beach Party...

*Vanilla Ice* intends to play a show in Texas on July 4th.

The rapper has confirmed he will play an open air show in Austin, part of the Independence Day Throwback Beach Party.

Set to take place at the city's Emerald Point Bar & Grill, the show utilises a loophole in local by-laws - it's technically a restaurant, with an outside performance space.

Austin, of course, is the home of *South By Southwest*, and the mammoth new music event was forced to *pull the plug due to coronavirus fears* earlier in the year.

Since then, the United States has struggled to deal with the pandemic, and in recent weeks Texas has become a centre of soaring infection.

A total of 2500 tickets have been sold, ranging from $25 general admission to $300 for VIP seating (which has seemingly sold out).

Confirming his involvement on Instagram, Vanilla Ice wrote:

“I can’t wait to get back to this. The 90s were the best. We didn’t have coronavirus, or cell phones, or computers. We had 5.0's, blockbuster, Beavis and Butthead, Wayne's World, Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan ... Mortal Kombat is still better than Fortnight ... the last of the great decades.”
