
Hundreds of migrants rescued off the coast of the Canary Islands
Following a record-breaking amount of migrants arriving to the Canary Islands last year, almost 400 were rescued on Monday.

The Canary Islands, also known informally as the Canaries, are an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean and the southernmost Autonomous Community of Spain. They are located in the northwest of Africa, with the closest point to the continent being 100 kilometres away. The islands have a population of 2.25 million people and are the most populous special territory of the European Union.
