US President Donald Trump welcomes his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to Alaska on Friday for talks aiming to bring about a ceasefire and ultimately an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Noticeably absent from the meeting in Anchorage is Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
However, Europe’s leaders have expressed cautious optimism about the prospect of a truce.
