Russia has launched its largest aerial attack on Ukraine since the war began, according to Ukrainian officials.
Overnight, a staggering 537 aerial weapons — including 477 drones and decoys, and 60 missiles — were fired at targets across Ukraine.
Ukraine's air force reported that 249 were shot down and 226 were likely disrupted by electronic jamming.
Yuriy Ihnat, spokesperson for Ukraine’s air force, called the strike “the most massive air attack” yet.
Areas far from the frontlines, including western Ukraine, were hit.
Poland scrambled jets to protect its airspace.
Casualties included one dead in Kherson and six injured in Cherkasy, including a child.
This assault follows a wave of similar attacks earlier this month, which had already been labelled the most powerful at that point in the war.
Damage was reported in Kharkiv, where multiple residential buildings and houses were struck.
The escalation signals a grim turn in the nearly three-year conflict.
