Women arrested at Sarah Everard vigil secure payout from Met

Two women who were arrested at a vigil for murder victim Sarah Everard have been paid compensation by the Metropolitan Police.

Patsy Stevenson and Dania Al-Obeid were detained at the event on Clapham Common in March 2021.

The Met was criticised for its heavy handling of the vigil, which took place amid ongoing Covid restrictions.

The London force have acknowledged the pair’s motivations for attending the vigil, but added that their officers "acted in good faith.” Report by Jonesia.
