The Sensex and Nifty fell more than 2% on Thursday, and the rupee hit an all-time low, as investors avoided riskier assets ahead of inflation data that could fuel fears of more rate hikes.
The NSE Nifty 50 index fell 2.22 percent, or 359.10 points, to close at 15,808, while the S&P BSE Sensex fell 2.14 percent, or 1,158.08 points, to 52,930.31.
Both indexes fell for the fifth consecutive session and hit a two-month low.
