String of shootings in Chico concerning neighborhoods

Spike of shootings concern neighborhoods in Chico.

Chico police are investigating four shootings in eight days around the city -- the latest last night.

Take a look -- they happened on east avenue, 5th street and east lassen avenue.

The fourth -- at an unknown location... the victim showing up wounded at enloe medical center.

People i talk with are shocked to see this rise in violent crimes in their neighborhoods.

Take sot charles vermillion, lives in chico "i couldn't tell if it was a firework or a gunshot."

Charles vermillion lives just down the street from the most recent shooting on east lassen and godman avenue.

Take sot charles vermillion "what i heard sounded like a car accident, until there were multiple concussions, multiple sounds."

Vermillion says things like this didn't used to happen here.

But this is just the latest in a string of shootings in chico.

The first was a double drive by happening just two hours near the glenwood apartments.

Then - five days later officers arrested a man for shooting a gun in a neighborhood.

That same morning - a gunshot victim showed up at enloe medical center.

Tori standup the car to car shooting happened last night here at this intersection just a couple hundred feet from this neighborhood.

I don't want that to happen."

I asked chico police what its doing to crack down on this rash of gunfire.

Mike williams "we're targeting high crime areas, we're making good proactive stops and our officers are making some good arrests and getting some guns out of the hands of violent people."

It's a social disturbance for one, it's endangering the public."

Chico pd says that the violent suppression unit is taking over these violent crime investigations.
