Battle of the Beach: Biloxi vs Nettleton

As i've came to find out, over- the last year... everyone seems- to have a "last thing i did - before covid"... kind of moment- i'll never forget mine... as it- pertains to covering- sports... just trying to hold o- to whatever hadn't already- been canceled.- that's where i found myself at- m-g-m park... shooting- highlights of a game between- biloxi and west lauderdale... a- a - part of the fourth annual battl- at the beach.

- now under the pressure of a - deadline... it's a fairly commo- practice, for us sports guys...- to leave in the middle of a - game... once we get enough- highlights to fill a show.....- but not - that night.

- on that friday night... march - 13th, 2020... i stayed... i put- the - camera down... and i stayed.- biloxi shuckers general manager- hunter reed brought me a hot- dog... and i stayed... i stayed- to watch an extra inning... - just one extra inning of- baseball... just six more - outs... - because i didn't know... i- didn't know when the next time- would - be... no one did.

- by the time i came back to work- the following monday... we all- know the rest.- and yet here we are... one year- later... back where i started..- before that last thing i did.

- biloxi hosting nettleton, as a- part of the fifth annual battle- at- the beach... indians one of nin- different host teams... - over nine days of baseball.

- and this was just one of those- games... pitchers denying - hitters - hits... just like covid-19- denied us baseball for so many- months... - patrick galle... tee him up...- and take a sit down... works- - - around a walk to strike out - three, in the top of the- first... what would the - tigers do... with their turn on- the mound?- well... pretty much the same- thing... except northwest - mississippi community college - signee davis oswalt...- actually strikes out the side..- the game started with seven - consecutive strikeouts... and - there really wasn't anything- going on offensively for a long- time.

- eventually... the indians find - way to plate a run... and that'- all - they would need... to make that- home field advantage... a - true advantage.

- hard to believe it's already on- year later... after a year that- felt like 10... here's biloxi - head coach eddie lofton...- reflecting from then to now.- - "well, just to be here right- now, just the - biggest thing is just to be her- playing on the field again out- here with the players, doing- the thing that we all love to d- in front of the fans, in front- of the community, just trying - - - to get back to some kind of - normalcy from what we've been - through over basically- the past year now.

We're a week- and a day away from saturday a- year ago- was our final day to get to pla- and to be able to get back out- - - - here on the field with the guys- it just - it means a lot."- overall... battle at the beach- is featuring 43 schools... and- 86- games.-
