Farms are suing over a rule aimed at limiting the number of mares a thoroughbred stallion breeds each year.
L3: abc 36 news white farms sue over "stallion cap" spendthrift farm... ashford stud and three chimneys farm filed the federal lawsuit on tuesday against what is called the "stallion cap."
The cap was adopted by the jockey club in 20-20 in their lawsuit... the farms call it an anti-competitive restriction that could affect hundreds of millions of dollars of stud fee revenues and have mare owners paying higher prices to breed their horses.
