Gov. Beshear Delivers State of the Commonwealth

At his state of the commonwealth address.

New tonight ----- governor andy beshear gave his state of the commonwealth speech this evening -- after delaying the speech because of riots in d-c last night--- governor beshear's virtual address included his proposed spending plan to help alleviate financial burdens for kentuckians.... his budget proposal calls for a one thousand dollar raise for teachers-- and fully funding medicaid-- plus hiring more 70 social workers to work in child protective services it also includes --- unemployment assistance and money for kentuckians to attend college and receive certificates.

All this was made possible since state revenue didn't fall as much as expected.

I'm pleased to report with a better budget forecast than what was intially reported - we have over 600 million odllars in one time money to invest in our future...................... .....doesn't rely on the passage of any new revenue measures.

There is also funding for broadband and beshear wants to pledge an additional $100 million to the state's rainy day fund.

Governor andy beshear is now urging kentucky lawmakers to pass his proposed spending bill
