City of Oneonta financial audit

City receives designation of "unmodified" from independent auditors.

Physically and mentally, not to mention financially.

New tonight the city of oneonta received some good news on the fiscal front.

At the first common council meeting of the new year, the city heard the results of a financial audit for the year ending december 31st 2019.

The report was prepared by b-s-t and company out of albany and gave the city a designation of "unmodified".

The city's finance director says that's the highest opinion they could have received.

The report goes on to say that oneonta maintained a healthy and stable financial position despite a slow tax base growth and state mandates, remaining fiscally diligent by controlling expenses and committing funds to capital reserves for future investments.

The financial and fiscal policies you've put in place have really positioned the city to do some good things.

You've seen the downtown revitalization, improvements in parks, improvements in the tsystem.

Oneonta mayor gary herzig says the favorable audit will go a long way when it comes to the city borrowing money and applying for grants in the future.
