We're all dealing with new challenges this year during the pandemic.

To make the holiday season a little brighter ?

"* mayo clinic department of surgery and boys and girls club of rochester gave gifts to local families this morning.

This holiday season is challenging for everyone this year and some families won't be celebrating their traditions in the same way as past years.

To help spread some christmas cheer, mayo clinic teamed up with boys and girls club of rochester to gives gifts to families who are a part of the club.

Were so grateful for the opportuntiy to help.

This has been such a difficult year for so many people and as healthcare providers, we've spent the last nine months caring for patients but we wanted the community to know how much we care about them as well, especially those who have had significant hardships in other ways.

Mayo clinic department of surgery and boys & girls club worked together to provide gifts for families last year ?

"* but this year ?*- the department was extra thoughtful.

Instead of only using donations to pay for the gifts, it used personal funds normally used for a staff holiday gathering.

We were able to each take a family and go out and shop for them knowing their ages and the gender of their children boys and girls club of rochester and mayo clinic's department of surgery provided gifts for 33 families and 95 total people.

There's alot of folks in our community who are facing alot of barriers of various kinds and uh, some families have a hard time making ends meet to begin with let alone provide presents and entertainment for kids during the holiday season.

This gifts range from legos, pots, pans, sports supplies, to beautfy shop gift cards.

After the success this year, boys and girls club of rochester is hoping to team up with mayo clinic's department of surgery again next holiday season to give gifts to children and their families.

The gifts were distributed contactlesly to
