Welcome back to newswatch 12 midday and meet our pet of the week, meeka.

Meeka is about eight months old and is a short haired gray tabby female.

She's a beautiful girl who is quite shy, but very sweet and loving.

Although she is very shy at this time, she should become a very great companion in a good home.

She will need a quiet home with very loving people who are very patient, as it will probably take some time for her to become comfortable.

If you're looking for a way to help the shelter out with all the new kittens, why not sponsor one!

A donation of $200 designated for a sponsorship will take a kitten through all the normal procedures to get them ready for adoption.

The staff will pick out a kitten for you to sponsor and you'll get a picture of the kitten, a fact sheet about the kitten and updates about the kitten.

This is not an adoption, and the $200 sponsorship does not include adoption fees.
