Seven Monroe County officials jump to GOP

"today was all about a change here in monroe county."

Republican senator roger wicker and congressman trent kelly were only two of many mississippi elected offcials in attendance today.

They watched as seven elected officials in monroe county switched from the democratic party to the republican party.

County republican party chairman wayland powell said they all had one reason for switching.

"you know what, we've had enough of the democrat party."

Five county officials made the move to the g-o-p sheriff kevin crook, supervisors joseph richardson, rubel west and b-r richey and coroner alan gurley.

Also making the move two amory aldermen buddy carlisle and tony poss.

And according to them... "it's okay to be a republican in a democratic county."
