New information... today we spoke with the madison county commission chairman about the confederate soldier monument that was relocated last week!

Dale strong told us the commission followed the process to relocate the statue - and did so legally.

He explained they worked with the city of huntsville to relocate the monument to the confederate solidier section of maple hill cemetary because they unamiously agreed it was a more appropiate place for the monument.

The big thing is madison county made a decision to seek a lawful remedy to relocate, preserve and protect this monument."

Waay 31 learned the city of huntsville paid about 33- thousand dollars to relocate the statue from the county courthouse to the cemetary which sits in city limits.

Meanwhile the push to relocate other confederate monuments in north alabama continues.

A resolution was presented to the albertville city council last night.

But the town is split on what to do.

Members of the city council said they needed time to think about adopting the resolution before making a decision.

They did not say when a decision could be expected.

Activists in florence also want the statue outside the lauderdale county courthouse moved.

The city of florence sent the lauderdale county commiission a resolution asking the county for permission to come onto their property and relocate the monument.

The county commission has not responded.

It's also asking for a waiver from the state committee on historic monuments.

But they've previously said they had no jurisdiction on
