So many businesses didn't make it- through the pandemic-- shuttered during the first round of stay at home orders-- unable to re-open-- and those that did survive the first wave of shutdowns-- worry they might not be around if another large wave of cases hits the tristate .

44news reporter marisa patwa reports from evansville "a shutdown at this point-- would be catastrophic."

This bar manager and chef we spoke with is one of many fearful about another shut down as coronaviruses cases increase in vanderburgh county.

And mayor winneckes executive order limiting events down from 500 down to 125 starting monday, oct.

19th, it going to be a struggle for some businesses with larger venues.

Especially if restrictions continue.

"let's just say you have a five hundred seat venue.

Your income is based on filling 500 seats.

If you take that and you cut it down by what's that almost a quarter, no three quarters, how do you recompute your labor.

All of your expenses are based on a 500 hundred seat venue.

Cut your businesses down to a fourth?

Businesses hope customers continue follow the safety guidelines they have in place to slow down the spread.

"we can control everything at our end.

Do the masks, keep our hands clean, clean the space.

That's the things we have.

We can control our own destiny that way."

But as the holidays loom -- that destiny remains uncertain for this store owner.

"i started it from scratch and yeah it's really important to me.

I have a lot of customers who enjoy shopping here.

So i would love to keep it open.

Especially with christmas coming up.

It's a big time for the year for all business owners."

Business owners are stocking up with extra masks to hand out to customers in case they don't have their own.
