The plan is to make Salisbury Street more pedestrian friendly from Grant Street to Kalberer Road.

The city has finished getting the public's input.

Now, it's working on the final design phase.

The plan is to make salisbury street more pedestrian friendly from grant to kalberer road.

That's the site of the new wellness and aquatic center.

Work includes adding a trail from the north end to the city center.

There will also be new lighting and road patching.

Another step will narrow certain parts of the street.

Development director erin easter says this is an important part of improving safety.

"in some places you may see a narrowing of the roadway.

That's not necessarily a bad thing.

Often it is a mechanism to slow traffic.

So, it will a safer roadway in general because there will be slower speeds."

Easter says work will start sometime in next summer.

The project should wrap up in the fall of 20-22.
