William LeCroy's Execution

News 10's Jordan Kudisch served as a media witness for the execution of William LeCroy.

Here is how she described the process.

Since mid-july... the u-s has now put "six" federal inmates to death.

That includes "william lecroy"... he was sentenced to death... for raping and killing... a 30-year-old woman.

His body remained calm..

But once the lethal injection was given..

That very quickly changed.

I arrived at the media center right at 4.

What i didn't know then... was how long the process would be until "lecroy" said his fina words.

The execution was scheduled for 6.

After delays due to a legal battle..

It was pushed back.

Lecroy "dodged" death for three more hours.

After waiting with "no" answers..

We finally entered the death chamber.

It was a small room..

That lingered smells of disinfectant.

All i saw..

Green and white tiles as the curtain was raised.

There..

Lecroy laid still.

Starting at the ceiling... avoiding eye contact.

His final statement read "sister battista is about to receive in the postal service my last statement."

No other words left his mouth.

His breathing was shallow..

And quickly turned frantic.

His stomach moved up and down intensely.

His mouth dropped open.

His lips turned to a shade of nude.

At "9:06" over the speaker in the death chamber ..

He was pronounced dead.

The victims family did not want speak but they did prepare a statement.

And a portion of it read "today justice was finally served.

William lecroy died a peaceful death in stark contract to the horror he imposed on my daughter joann."

Now as a journalist, this was my very first execution, that i've ever witnessed.

I will forever remember the shape of his nostrils..

His beard..
