Three separate incidents made for a violent sunday in owensboro.

At around 9:45 am -- a police officer was making a routine traffic stop.

When he asked the driver to step out of his car -- the driver tried to speed away.

But the officer held on -- leading to a short pursuit -- until the driver hit a dead end.

That's when the driver got out -- started walking down walnut street -- and put a gun to his own head.

"he proclaimed he was going to take his life, he did not want to go back to jail and as one of the officers turned from parrish avenue on to walnut, he came within 15 feet of the suspect."

That's when the suspect shot and killed himself.

This caused one officer sitting in a nearby patrol car to fire is gun -- but it is unclear whether his bullet hit the suspect.

Then around noon -- owensboro police and daviess county deputies responded to an incident involving two cars -- and shots fired.

And it all started right here on the 4200 block of thruston dermont road when someone in one car fired their handgun at the second car -- but it didn't stop there.

The two cars followed each other to this nearby meijer before the driver who fired earlier -- continued shooting -- before intentionally driving her car into the other.

The woman behind the attack -- 43- year-old stephanie millay of owensboro -- was charged with 4 counts of attempted murder and 4 counts of first degree wanton endangerment.

Finally -- just after 4 pm -- police were trying to take 31- year-old harold sanders into custody for an outstanding warrant -- when he reportedly became combative -- took out a knife -- and stabbed officer austin esther in the face.

Sanders is charged with attempted murder of a police officer -- among other charges -- with a bond set at 2 million dollars.

Officer esther was treated at owensboro health regional hospital and is recovering at home.
