Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Wabash Valley looking for mentors

40 kids currently waiting to be matched up with a mentor.

If you're looking for a chance to volunteer in your community and make an impact in the life of a young person, big brothers big sisters of the wabash valley could use your help.

Chief photojournalist mike latta introduces us to a pair of brothers who are just 2 of 40 kids currently waiting to be macthed up with a mentor.

They are typical boys, and typical brothers.

Nat/// who's the best?

"me!"

"we are looking for bigs to be matched with these two little boys, and i just have to say they are all boy.

When it comes to being boys they want to play sports, they want to be outside, and they are typical brothers picking on each other."

Nat/// he's trying to be funny all the time.

Nat/// i'm smart....and that he's bad.

These little guys are a bundle of energy, and looking for mentors to play sports, or just hang out and watch tv.

But more than anything they are looking for a mentor that can give them the most valuable thing.

Their time and attention.

"sometimes these kids just want to know, hey it's not always fun to talk to mom you want to have a guy in your life, someone who just cares and lets these kids know i am here for you."

But the sad truth is they are not alone, lots of kids are waiting to find a match with a big.

"currently right now we have more than 40 kids on the waiting list waiting to be matched with a big, and the majority of them are little boys.

So while we always encourage both big brothers and big sisters we are despreately searching for big brothers."

"i can't tell you how many times we have had bigs say they truly it made more of an impact on me than i did on that little."

So if you want to make a difference in these little guys lives?
