Educators in Starkville want to put the right equipment in the hands of students who are taking online classes due to coronavirus.

Oktibbeha school district held a specially called board meeting this afternoon to discuss some of the big topics in question now that the district started school yesterday.

The starkville oktibbeha consolidated school board approved a plan to distribute i- pads and chromebooks to students during a special called meeting today... the board also discussed a new program to allows virtual students to have the same accessibility on their laptops as students who are in the classroom... board members plan to ask the state department of education for financial help to provide devices for students and teachers..

Dr. eddie peasant says schools would give pre-k and first grade student's ipads already being used in the in the district... second through twelfth grade students would use chrome books.

School leaders estimate the cost for the program would be around 2.1 million dollars.
