WAAY 31's Alexis Scott was live at Academy Sports and Outdoor Store in Huntsville for the annual Back to School Sales Tax Weekend.
So far so good... here at academy sports and outdoors and many stores across the state... you don't have to pay the 4-percent sales tax on school- related supplies and clothing.
At academy they've seen steady sales... even though many are unsure of what the fall will look like for their students.
Under the sales tax holiday some items that are exempt from the tax include...clothin g items less than 100- dollars..books 30-dollars or less and some electronics that are 750-dollars or less.
The manager at academy says sales are doing well... and the store is seeing a lot of people still come in and shop.
It's definitely been consistent traffic.
It's a lot of gray area still and question marks about when school starts and all that kind of affects it a little bit but, no, everybody's still kind of coming in and shopping like normal so it's been a good weekend, micah franklin also says through the month of september.... first responders, medical professionals and military personnel get an extra 10- percent off.
If you cant make it out today... you still have time to shop tomorrow to be exempt from the sales tax.
