Fireworks store owners see an increase in purchases despite COVID-19 shutdown for the past couple months.

The fourth of july is approaching and you might see fireworks signs more frequently along the streets.

Fox 55's mallory beard tells us what store owners have to say about the increase in firework sales as the state inches closer to re-opening.

I actually thought it was gonna be on the other side of things and it's actually been trending just like i thought it was gonna be" with idle time and just days away from governor holcomb fully reopening the state, customers are eager to get into the stores.bryan hollister//hollister pyrotechnics"a lot of stores are selling out of inventory already so there seems to be a need for the consumer backyard fireworks."but hollister says backyard fireworks need some extra attention come fourth of july.

Though he'll be using the professional grade to host city events since the state is opening back up bryan hollister//hollister pyrotechnics"it takes a little bit of common sense when you're using fireworks."

Hollister says not everyone exercises common sense when using fireworks though.

So he gives some tips.bryan hollister//hollister pyrotechnics"two hundred feet from any structures, people crowds, wherever it is you're planning on shooting them."he says backyard fireworks need to be soaked in water so the embers won't re-ignite.

They are a lot of fun.

They're so much fun.

But they're extremely dangerous if misused or used improperly."
