Sad news to report out of one of our indiana counties.

Perry county reporting two more deaths thursday -- both were residents in long-term care, there are now six coronavirus related deaths in perry county.

40 new patients are fighting the virus.... 20 out of our indiana communities - with vanderburgh*again reporting a bulk of the cases - with 10.... we are seeing the same for daviess county - reporting 11 of the 19 kentucky cases in the tri- state.... this - while white county- illinois - reports a 4th case.... loss and suffering - predicted to continue.... the death rate is expected to hit an all time high by october.... health officials say - 180- thousands americans will lose the battle against covid-19*if proper steps are not taken - to reduce the spread of covid-19.... and as the death toll rises.... we are now learning - that age is just a number for the deadliness of this virus.... john rawlings joins us live from downtown evansville this morning... he's diving into the latest warning from the c-d-c.

At the start of this pandemic..

It was stated that people over the age of 65 were at the highest risk.

However..

The c-d-c is now saying that underlying conditions among people at any age increase the risk for a severe covid-19 infection.

Based on the strongest evidence from the c-d-c..

People with cardiovascular disease..

Chronic kidney disease..

Chronic obstructive pulomary disease..

Obesity..

Any immunosuppres sive condition..

A history of organ transplant..

Or type 2 diabetes..

Run the highest risk of seeing a severe covid-19 infection.

As the virus continues to surge..

Many worry that asymptomatic young people are helping fuel the spread.

People in their 20's... 30's... and 40's... are accounting for a growing number of positive cases across the united states... a trend that is catching the eye of public health officials.

For example..

In arizona..

People ages 20 to 44 account for nearly half of all cases in the state..

While in florida..

The median age of residents testing positive has dropped from 65 in march to 35 in june.

With these new statistics..

The world health organization says the coronavirus is still very active and dangerous... going as far as issuing a warning on thursday.

"the virus is still circulating.

It is still deadly, and most people are still susceptible.

This is the time to be on our guard, not to let it down."

The rise in cases among younger people may complicate plans of schools resuming and athletic events returning.

All we can do right now is continue to practice proper social distancing..
