The University of Mississippi reports the intended actions to remove the statues of confederate veterans.

It all comes do to i-h-l, the institute of higher learning.

Six months ago the 12 person board halted the move of the confederate statue in the middle of the university of mississippi campus.

Today, they may have changed their minds.

It is being reported this morning by mississippi today that trustees are expected to approve a plan to move the monument.

That decision could happen on thursday.

But students and faculty have been waiting for the i-h- l approval since last year.

In 2019, a vote by the university of mississippi elected student governing bodies and the faculty senate approved moving the monument to an on-campus cemetery.

But at least one i- h-l trustee asked for more information from the university, effectively stopping removal of the statue.

The statue was placed at the entrance to campus in the early 1900's by the daughters of the confederacy.

It has been a on- going source of controversy between students who say the statue did not represent their values and more conservative alumni this story, again from mississippi today.
