This is a look at the scene in huntsville.

Earlier tonight - hundreds of people filled the downtown area for a protest.

Here's a look at the crowds.

They started in downtown - before marching to big spring park.

Here's what we know about the event.

Huntsville police told us there was no permit filed - but people are allowed to gather peacefully under their first amendment rights - as long as they're not disturbing the peace or blocking roads.

We also know the madison county courthouse closed early - and police closed some roads downtown ahead of the gathering.

Thanks for joining us tonight - i'm dan shaffer.

And i'm najahe sherman.

We have team coverage for you tonight from huntsville - ahead of several protests planned this weekend.

Protestors started at city hall in downtown huntsville - where they spent nearly an hour before marching.

Waay 31's lynden blake was there with the protestors message for the city.

Some of the protestors are demanding an apology from mayor tommy battle after wednesday's protest that started peacefully but turned chaotic after the march ended protestors are back marching after some were tear gassed and shot at with rubber bullets wednesday night in huntsville.

Wednesday ended at 6:30, but officials with hpd say protestors stayed past their permit.

Blah blah says still there wasn't a need for law enforcement to deploy gas or rubber bullets and wants mayor tommy battle to apologize the rubber bullets left bruises on blah blah stomach.

Friday's protest remained peaceful the entire time.

Blah says he wants city leaders to know protestors aren't causing conflict.

I spoke with some protestors after tonight's march, and they said they feel disrespected by battle.

They added they may start a petition or take other action till he gives an apology for wednesday.
