Car/horse accident in Ava

At 10:30pm on Saturday, driver Billie Joe Caporilli hit a horse and passenger Derek Still was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital.

Is recovering after the car she was a passenger in...struck a horse.

Oneida county sheriff's officials say it happened along state route 26 in ava last night around 10:30.

Investigators say 56-year-old billie joe caporilli of rome was driving a toyota camry south of 26 when a horse entered the roadway from the right side.

The horse was killed upon impact.

Caporilli was not injured...but a passenger, 34-year- old derek still of ava was injured and taken to rome memorial hospital.

No word on his condition.

Sheriff's officials say teh horse had gotten loose from a nearby farm.

No tickets have been issued.
