Chick dodges the saucepan and HATCHES from egg on shop shelf

A food shop owner was surprised when she discovered that one of the chicken eggs in her tray was already hatched when she opened her business in the morning.

Footage shows a bare chick, still in the broken piece of eggshell, being taken out and put into a box by shop owner Khun Pukpik.

The new born chicken was hatching itself as the shop owner tried to save its life in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 13.

Pukpik said: "I was a bit surprised when I noticed the chick moving in the tray.

We all agreed to keep it as a pet.

It was so lucky, not to be eaten as Balut." Balut is a boiled fertilised egg, usually a duck, with a nearly-developed embryo inside.

They are mostly sold by street vendors in southeast Asia especially Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
