Villagers in Barmer suffer due to acute water shortage

Amid the intense heat waves across the country, residents of Ati village in Barmer are facing acute water shortage.

The villagers of Ati village are entirely dependent on a hand pump as it is their only water source.

They complained that the water level of the hand pump sinks during the day because of intense heat; therefore they are forced to fetch water during night.

One of the locals said, "The water supply begins at 10 pm and continues for 30-45 minutes.

The women keep waiting here at night.

Our livestock is also thirsty, some birds and animals have died.

We request government to make artificial water bodies for animals and make arrangements for us too."
