Coronavirus southern minnesota community leaders are reaching out in support of local restaurants.

Many have been closed and losing money during the pandemic.

As kimt news 3's maleeha kamal tells u?it's what's*no* in use*no* that could make a difference.

On the scene look live: i'm at the pavilion in blooming prairie.

The city is loaning picnic tables like this one out to bar and restaurants owners if they need them.

More than a dozen picnic tables sit empty at this pavilion.

Typically, this space is rented to residents for parties like graduation.

With large gatherings not being an option in the state of minnesot?

City administrator andrew langholz says they wont be renting out this space.

So to make good use of the tables langholz thought why not help out local businesses by loaning the tables out.

Nats: "we have 40 picnic tables in total and we will probably be able to loan out 30 of them.

Restaurants are limited to the services they can provid?

There's take out and now patio seating.

But langholz says adding additional seating for some business can be an heavy expense and maybe even out of their budget for businesses hurting finanically.

"it just gives them an other opportunity.

I feel like probably not all businesses will take advantage of it depending on their size and what they are able to work with but if a couple of bsuinesses do take advantage of it they are probably going to get a very good turnout."

Look live: for bars and restaurants in the area that would like to use these tables i was told that you should reach as we've told you, the socially distanced outdoor meals will begin june first.///
