Ceremonies have been banned in the state of minnesota... and districts are turning to virtual options to celebrate their seniors.

Senior olivia goodmanson remembers attending her older brothers graduation.

Olivia goodmanson "he got to walk on the stage.

Shake hands and had his graduation party."

She thought her day would be much like his.

But the pandemic has changed that moment for her and her friend maggie eggum.

When governor walz announced ceremonies would be banned to keep in line with social distancing guidelines?

The community of albert lea teamed up for this banner project.

Goodmanson says it put a smile on her face.

Olivia goodmanson: "i'm happy because now everybody can drive by and see who the seniors are."

While senior year is full of memorie?

Eggum says their class will stand out.

Maggie eggum: "i think this is a way of showing that class of 2020 are stronger than having moments."

She adds that maybe this will become a new tradition for graduating classes.
