Venues Such As Ford Center and Victory Theater Not Set To Open Until Stage 4 of Reopen Plan:

As stage two of indiana's back on track plan continues, not everything is opening up right away.

Not until stage 4, set to begin june 14th, are gatherings of up to 250 people allowed with social distancing guidelines being practiced.

Which means venues such as the ford center and victory theater may not open until then, but may not be filled to capacity until stage 5 when gatherings of over 250 are permitted on july 4th.

For the city of evansville obviously there's no one coming into this building to enjoy a concert or a ballgame.

We were fortunate to get the ohio valley conference tournament in but certainly we look forward to the day when this building is open and the victory theater is open again so people can come back to ballgames and concerts and hockey games.

And as we move further into the state's reopening plan, the mayor and his staff are closely monitoring the pandemic closely here in the area so as to figure out how to best move forward and keep people safe.

We've had a number of virtual town hall meetings across industry sectors to understand what businesses need in different kinds of business lines.

So we're confident that what we're learning from that, that we can provide the resource to business so people can be comfortable returning to them.

And while we may be progressing through the reopening plan, mayor winnecke wants to remind the public of the habits that make the reopening process possible so as to avoid any regression.

We have a plan toward reopening so that means we need to continue to wear masks when we're in public.

It means we need to continue social distancing.

It means we need to continue to be diligent about washing our hands.

If we don't do those things and there is a surge, we may be back to where we were.

It's going to be a long time before we're back to where we used to be before the pandemic hit us.
