Most food pantries around Middle Georgia are experiencing struggles with finding enough food to help their communities.

However, one food bank in Perry has food to spare

Loaves and fishes in houston county, is experiencing an overflow of food.

Workers say they're not serving as many people as other food banks right now.

Lizel peterson, a representative of loaves and fishes in perry, says the food bank is overwhelmed by the amount of food they have.

"last month we purchased, 17000 pounds of food and that normally is used up and because we have funding now we can purchase even more food."

Peterson says she's concerned the community doesn't know what resources are available to them.

"right now we aren't really seeing a flux in people, we're probably seeing about the same number.

We might have a few extras a week, but we're not seeing the numbers that we're seeing from other food banks like on the news.

So we are just concerned that maybe people do not know where we are."

The food bank is in the historic district of perry, where they are not allowed to use large signs to advertise their location.

The location also uses it's back door to make access easier for disabled people.

Peterson says people can learn about the food bank and its c1 3 b13 location through simple communication.
