A pet dog who was travelling in the front passenger seat of a car had with its head poking out of the window fell out when the driver had a bump.

The pooch was enjoying the fresh air blowing in its fur as its master drove along the country road in Nonthaburi on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand.

Many families allow their beloved dogs to stick their heads out of the window with their front paws resting on the door frame.

However, dashcam footage shows how that can be dangerous.

The driver had a bump as she turned right into a junction - hitting an oncoming car.

The hapless pet dog was flung out of the window but luckily managed to take the fall in its stride and landed on its feet.

Road users involved in the accident said the dog was unharmed and they are hoping to settle the damage caused to their vehicle with the driver of the other car.

''This is a dangerous way to travel with pets,'' said the drive of the car that was struck.

''If the collision was stronger or the cars were travelling faster, the accident could have been much worse for the pet.

I hope other drivers see this and think about the safety of their dogs while travelling.''
