Playgrounds in Tupelo to remain closed

Mayor Jason Shelton said that all playgrounds and splash pads in Tupelo will stay closed for a at least a few more weeks.

Closed.... wtva's evan hensley joins us live to tell us when tupelo city leaders could open their playgrounds back up... on a gorgeous day like today many tupelo residents have come to places like here at ballard park to take it in... but when they come here they will see this... closed playgrounds.

Mayor jason shelton says that city leaders are taking precautions.

As the temperatures heat up in the coming weeks, families will want to use these playgrounds again.

Shelton shared with me when we could see these begin to open back up... or two."

But we are just going to wait just a bit longer, probably in a week or two."

At some point, workers will open up other facilities like baseball fields.
