Senate judiciary committee heard testimony wednesday as part of the confirmation hearing for justin walker -- the first step after he was nominated last month.

He's a 37-year-old federal judge in kentucky, backed by senate majority leader mitch mcconnell for a seat on the most powerful appeals court in the country.

With the senate back to business in washington, d-c, the body moved ahead with what mcconnell said is his top priority -- confirming judges.

The hearing, comes in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.

Just a handful of senators were present in the room at any given time in an effort to maximize social distancing, with some asking questions via videoconferencing.
